A fine Italian restaurant and pizzeria situated in the beautiful city of Cardiff
da MARA was born from a long and established friendship between owners, Tony and Mark, and their idea to create a fine restaurant able to great quality, authentic Italian food and excellent service.
Mark and Tony knew the importance of creating a restaurant where the correct balance of culinary expertise, hospitality, vibrant atmosphere and reasonable prices is delivered: that is why da MARA was created.
Mark’s professionalism, extensive knowledge of fine food and wine, and his 30 years of experience as Front of House Manager in some of the most well-known hospitality places in Cardiff; combined with Tony’s business skills and experience and knowledge on the extraordinary Italian pizza-making art, makes da MARA a fantastic place to dine.
da MARA was previously known as Anatonis, a pizzeria that gained the reputation as one of the best in Cardiff and, according to The Sunday Times and WalesOnline, one of the Top 25 Pizzerias in the UK.
Anatonis was originally run by Tony and his wife Anna until December 2015 when they welcomed new co-owners, Mark and Rita, onboard to create da MARA.
da MARA is now a fine Italian restaurant and pizzeria, fully licenced, with an appetite for exceeding expectations, where the skilled chefs can offer some of the most exquisite food that this type of restaurant can serve and the experienced front of the house team provide an excellent service to meet customers’ requirements.
Following a successful transformation from Anatoni’s to da MARA at their original premises in Lakeside, the restaurant is now located in Penylan, offering an increased seating capacity and soon-to-come takeaway menu.
This adventure has been fantastic and full of surprises from day one and the aim is for da MARA to continue being a valuable choice for dining-out in Cardiff.
